Spring has come in fits and starts this year, but here are a few pictures taken today. The desert primrose and the syringa bush are one-year old native plants. I don’t know what the bush with beautiful red flowers is, but we are pretty sure we did not plant it so it must be a gift from a bird passing through. It is currently full of bees. The chicks are almost two-week old Araucanas living in our patio room. As you can see, they are just beginning to get their pin feathers.

So nice to see spring arrive in Idaho, Leslie! How amazing that the beautiful red flowers are “mystery” flowers and full of bees! If you find out what they are, let us know!

Is this the first year you have had the pink mystery bush or is an established plant? Your chicks have grown so much in just a week! Do you know who’s who yet?
Isn’t syringa the state plant of Idaho? So great that it survived. The desert primrose is beautiful and so dainty-looking! I was wondering if your mystery plant has little thorns. It looks a lot like our weigelia bush–a freebie from the birds!
