This picture is from Robin’s yard in Virginia. It shows that in mid-June the leaves are already being rolled — someone is inside each roll. Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillars? She’s afraid to open up the rolls completely to get a good look at what’s inside. We’ll have to wait to see what emerges.

Are the rolls the white to the left of the picture? About how long should it take for somebody to emerge?
Yes, the rolls are the white to the left and right in the picture. The one on the right is bigger. I don’t know how long before someone will emerge. I’ll send a picture (maybe add it to the post) of the bigger caterpillars I had last year.
